Our Mission
The Ohio Institute of Permanent Makeup (OIPMU) was established to elevate the standard of permanent makeup training through structured education, competency-based instruction, and a strong commitment to safety, ethics, and professionalism. As Ohio's first state-licensed beauty school specializing in cosmetic tattooing, OIPMU is dedicated to equipping students with the skills needed for successful careers through comprehensive education, hands-on training, and real-world clinical experience.

Welcome to Ohio's Premier PMU School
Brensha “Shay” Searcy, B.S., DiAAM, is an award-winning permanent makeup educator, entrepreneur, and industry leader who serves as Founder and Director of The Ohio Institute of Permanent Makeup (OIPMU), Ohio’s first state-licensed permanent makeup school, and owner of Be Browed Etcetera, a permanent cosmetics and restorative tattooing practice serving Northeast Ohio.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry and more than seven years of industry experience, Shay is recognized for her commitment to advancing permanent cosmetics through education, ethics, and professional excellence. She was honored as the 2025 PMU WOC Educator of the Year and has been featured on Fox 8 Cleveland for her work in permanent makeup education, entrepreneurship, and workforce development.
As Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM) and an AAM Board Certified Diamond Trainer (DiAAM), she helps shape industry standards while mentoring the next generation of permanent makeup professionals. Through OIPMU, Shay has developed a competency-based training model focused on safety, technical excellence, and real-world career preparation, helping students build the skills, confidence, and professionalism needed for long-term success in the permanent cosmetics industry.
Our Educational Philosophy
We believe permanent makeup education should be treated as a profession—not a weekend certification. Our goal is not simply to issue certificates, but to develop competent practitioners who can safely serve clients, continue learning throughout their careers, and elevate the standards of the industry.
